WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - The Alfred University men's tennis team began the spring portion of the 2019-20 season with a 7-0 loss to Division II Daemen College, at the Miller Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
AU drops its first match of the season, sitting at 2-1 overall. The Saxons defeated Pitt-Bradford 5-4 and Oswego 7-2 in the fall. Daemen improves to 2-5.
The Wildcats were able to shutout the Saxons in both doubles matches and all five singles matches to pick up the victory, their first shutout of the season.
"Great first match from our guys today," said head coach
Jordan Crouch. "It was a great opportunity for us to play some great competition in Daemen. I'm excited to get back out there tomorrow!"
Alfred will host Mount Aloysius on Saturday at 1 p.m. The match will be held at the Olean YMCA in Olean, N.Y.
