ALFRED, NY -- For the third time in the 2019-20 season, Alfred University's junior captain,
Lauren Serotta (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) has been named the Empire 8 Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Serotta swept the backstroke events and picked up an individual second place finish on the day in the regular season dual meet finale against Ithaca College. Serotta first won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.37. Serotta then picked up another victory in the 200 back with a time of 2:16.16. She finished her day with a second place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.90, being out-touched at the wall by 0.85 seconds and securing second by 0.19 seconds. Serotta swam the fastest leg of the 200 medley relay with a time of 28.63 in the backstroke as her team finished third. She also had the fifth faster split in the 200 free relay, swimming a 26.58 as her team swam exhibitioned.
Serotta and the Saxons are in their taper portion of the season and will next compete in the Allegheny Empire Swimming & Diving Championships held at Webster Schroeder High School from Wednesday, February 19 until Saturday, February 22. Preliminary races begin at 10:00 a.m. each morning with finals starting at 5:30 p.m. each evening.
