BRADFORD, PA – The Alfred University men's tennis team took a 7-2 win over Pitt.-Bradford on Saturday afternoon on the road.

The Saxons (1-0, 0-0 Empire 8) got out to an early lead after sweeping doubles, 3-0. The No. 2 team of
Reeder Bruffey (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) and
John Papin (Rochester, NY/The Harley School) were the first to finish to give AU the 1-0 lead, topping their opponents, 8-3.
Ryan Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) and
Logan Cross (Olean, NY/Olean) followed with an 8-6 win at No. 1 while
Wes Dennison and
Matt Hibbert took the 8-5 win at No. 3 to clean up the doubles action.

Papin also finished his singles opponent early, 6-3, 6-0 to give the Saxons a 4-1 lead after Cross fell at No. 1 singles. Brown claimed the match-clinching point at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 win.

Bruffey won No. 4, 6-2, 6-1 while Dennison had a strong, 6-1, 6-0 No. 5 victory.

Jordan Crouch said. "I'm proud of the effort after one short week of practices. Today was a great collegiate start from Wes and Matt and I'm proud of Ryan for closing it out for us."
