Box Score OSWEGO, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team defeated Oswego State, 5-4 on Tuesday evening on the road.

The Saxons (2-0, 0-0 Empire 8) ended their own fall schedule with a perfect record as they defeated Pitt-Bradford earlier in September.

"Great way to end the fall season for the men," Head Coach Jordan Crouch said. "We hung tough after falling behind after doubles and were able to come out victorious!"

Ryan Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) and Logan Cross (Olean, NY/Olean) picked up an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles for the Saxons' lone point in the opening three matches. The duo also won their singles matches. Cross took a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 while Brown won, 6-0, 7-5, 10-8 at No. 2. Reeder Bruffey (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) took a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 4 to bring it to a 4-3 match in favor of Alfred University.

Oswego tied the match, 4-4 with a win at No. 6 singles. Wes Dennison claimed the match-clinching point for his first of his collegiate career with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-5 win at No. 5 singles.

The Saxons will next prepare for their main-portion of their schedule in the spring of 2020.
