Box Score OSWEGO, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team fell to Oswego State on Tuesday evening on the road in a close, 4-5 loss.
The Saxons (2-6, 2-1 Empire 8) held tough with the final, match-clinching point being decided at No. 6 singles, with the match being the last of the day.
Isabelle Benoit (Bow, NH/Tilton School) was the Saxon player still battling but fell 7-6, 7-6 (4).
"Great battle from our women today," Head Coach
Jordan Crouch said. "Despite coming up a little short, I'm proud of how we competed. Looking forward to practice tomorrow and Sage this weekend."
The No. 2 doubles team of
Lauren Boshart (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and
Kailey Reyes (Dallas, TX/Trinity) got the first Alfred University point with an 8-5 win. Boshart and Reyes both picked up wins in singles as well. Boshart won, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 while Reyes won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4.
Tori Pellegrino (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) won at No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-2 on Tuesday to close out the purple & gold's scoring.
The Saxons will next travel to The Sage College on Saturday, September 28 for a 1 p.m. Match.
