ALFRED, NY -- For the fourth time in her collegiate career, junior pitcher for the Alfred University softball team, Jessica Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) was named the Empire 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Monday's recognition is Wilcox's second Pitcher of the Week honors this season while she earned it twice in her sophomore season. During her inaugural collegiate academic year, Wilcox also earned Empire 8 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, making Monday's announcement her fifth overall E8 Weekly Award.

Wilcox went 4-1 on the week including a one-hit, shutout win over #10 nationally-ranked Ithaca College. She finished the week with 21 strikeouts, allowing only four earned runs over 25 innings pitched, equaling an ERA of 1.09. She also moved into sole possession of fourth all-time in strikeouts at Alfred with 260. Wilcox recorded a second shutout win over Stevens Institute of Technology in Empire 8 action with the 1-0 victory.

She was joined by women's track & field junior jumper Danielle Perry (Leicester, NY/York Central) in the weekly awards as Perry earned Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. Wilcox was also named one of the Saxons of the Week and was joined by men's track & field's Alex Spicer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post).

Wilcox and the Saxons will next host Houghton College in Empire 8 action on Friday, April 12 with the doubleheader games slated to start at 3PM and 5PM. Friday is also the Saxons' Senior Day and their Saxon-for-Saxon game.
