ALFRED, NY -- For the third time this year, junior pitcher, Jessica Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) was named the Empire 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday after yet, another Alfred University school record was broken last week.

Wilcox broke yet another Alfred University school record last week as she earned her seventh single season shutout win over SUNY Cortland on Wednesday. She then added on to that mark with another shutout win over Oswego State on Thursday. Between her two wins, Wilcox only gave up five hits and walked four while striking out batters 11 times. She recorded 13 strikeouts on the week as she also pitched 2.0 innings against Oswego in the day-opener. Wilcox went 7.0 innings in both of her wins.

Monday was Wilcox's third Empire 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week honors this year as she earned her first back in mid-March and then during the first games of April. This is her fifth Pitcher of the Week honors in her career as she earned it twice last year. It is the sixth time she has been recognized by the Empire 8 as she had one Empire 8 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week honors in her lone season on the basketball team.

Wilcox was also named one of the Saxons of the Week along with men's tennis's Kyle Kemper (Oswego, NY/Oswego) who helped his team clinch a spot in the Empire 8 Playoffs for the first time since 2006.

Wilcox and the Saxons will next look towards the Empire 8 Softball Playoffs as they take on No. 2 seeded, St. John Fisher College on Friday, May 3. The championship tournament will be held in Hoboken, NJ at Stevens Institute of Technology.
