ALFRED, NY -- Junior John Papin (Rochester, NY/The Harley School) was named the Empire 8 Men's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Papin had two of the most convincing wins during Alfred University's 8-1 victory over Pitt-Bradford. He first helped the Saxons sweep doubles as he teamed with fellow junior Reeder Bruffey (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) at #3 doubles for an 8-2 win. Then, in singles, Papin swept his opponent at the #4 lineup spot, 6-0, 6-0.

Papin, Bruffey and the Saxons will next head to Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday, March 5 for a 2:45pm match start in non-conference action.
