SaxonTV YouTube Recap

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team put on another offensive showcase on Wednesday as it hosted Hilbert College. The Saxons (5-2, 1-0 Empire 8) scored 27 or more goals for the third time this season in a commanding victory over the Hawks by a score of 28-6.

Jack Chapman (Elmira, NY/Notre Dame) had a standout performance for AU with a team high seven points including five goals and two assists.

Cale Donegan (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) was not far behind, totaling six points including five goals and one assist. The five goals for Donegan gives him a team high 22 for the season.

Noah Soriano (Valley Cottage, NY/Nyack) continued his streak of bigtime performances as he scored four times and assisted on another goal.

Zack Gibaud (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) had his best offensive game of the season with two goals and two assists.

Garrette Briggs (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) was once again efficient on face-offs, going 24-26 to come within two face-offs to break his own single game school record. Briggs scored once on the day and had two assists while picking up a team high 18 ground balls.

Joe Fornataro (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) and Jake McNaney (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) scored two goals each for the Saxons.

Kyle Landrigan (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua), Peyton VanBibber (Canton, NY/H.C. Williams), Zach Landrigan (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua), Jonathan Kay (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder), Dalton McCumber (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena), and Frank Gavigan (Yorktown, NY/Yorktown) all contributed one goal each for AU.

Kaelan Winkky (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) finished with two assists on the day while Anthony Ricottilli (Cortland, NY/Cortland) assisted on one goal.

Shane Weber (Hull, MA/Hull) and Ian Chedzoy (Watkins Glen, NY/Watkins Glen) each caused three turnovers to lead Alfred.

Gage Ponsetti (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) picked up with win in goal going the first 30 minutes while allowing just two Hilbert goals. Scott Kimiecik (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) allowed just one goal and had three saves while Brandon Smith (Queens, NY/The Governor's Academy) had one save in the final 15 minutes.

This was the second game in a row and the third game this season that AU has had 12 or more different players score throughout a single game.

"The guys did a great job today.  We had a lot of different players score goals and everyone got in the game," Head Coach Jason Lockner said.  "Briggs with our face off unit and transition game is giving us a lot of opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net.  This team works very hard and it shows on the field.  Looking forward to a big game on Saturday."

Alfred will be home again this Saturday for an Empire 8 matchup with Utica College at 1PM in Yunevich Stadium.
