OLEAN, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team picked up an 8-1 win over Pitt-Bradford on Friday evening at the St. Bonaventure Fitness Center.

The Saxons (2-1, 0-0 Empire 8) began the match with a sweep of doubles.
Peter Smock (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) and
Kyle Kemper (Oswego, NY/Oswego) won at #1 doubles with a score of 8-4.
Adam Schearer (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and
Ryan Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) picked up an 8-5 win at #2 while
Reeder Bruffey (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) and
John Papin (Rochester, NY/The Harley School) had the top score in doubles with an 8-2 victory at #3.

The Saxons then took top wins at all singles except a #2 singles match which ended in a close second set as Brown fell, 1-6, 6-7. Papin dominated at #4 with a 6-0, 6-0 win while ever other Alfred University player won their second sets with matching, 6-1 scores.

Smock won at #1 with a 6-2, 6-1 score. Kemper defeated his opponent with a strong 6-0, 6-1 final tally. Bruffey picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory at #5 while Shearer took a 6-4, 6-1 win in the final, #6 singles spot.

The Saxons head to RIT on Tuesday, March 5 for a 2:45PM match start time.
