ALFRED, NY -- Alfred University football's senior linebacker Cole Reed (Gratz, PA/Upper Dauphin Area) has earned his second, consecutive Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon despite the Saxons coming off of a bye week.

Reed had yet another productive game as he totaled 17 tackles against Ithaca College. He assisted on 10 tackles while making seven himself. Reed also get an early game interception in which he returned for 34 yards. He was also credited with a pass breakup on the Saturday, non-conference game.

The Saxons will next host SUNY Cortland on Saturday, September 22 at 1PM in Yunevich Stadium. Saturday's matchup is the Alfred University Homecoming. Cortland is receiving votes to be nationally ranked.
