ALFRED, NY -- Having broken the single game strikeout record, twice, this season, sophomore pitcher Jessica Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) topped another Alfred University milestone to earn Empire 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

This is Wilcox's second Empire 8 Pitcher of the Week Honors as she earned the first one of the season while in Florida.

Wilcox continued her standout second season as a Saxon on Saturday when she broke yet another pitching school record. She claimed the record, set by Chelsey Cary '11 during her 2010 season, as she recorded her 139th strikeout during the last batter from Elmira College in game one of the doubleheader. On the week, Wilcox totaled 16 strikeouts with an impressive nine against No. 9 nationally-ranked and No. 1 seeded St. John Fisher College, keeping the score in that game close, 2-0. Wilcox proved her worth at the plate and on the bases as she totaled two runs and three hits. She also had two stolen bases and one sacrificed hit.

The Saxons will meet the Cardinals again on Friday at 3:30pm in Rochester as St. John Fisher hosts the Empire 8 Conference Tournament.
