ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University men's tennis team had a player recognized on Monday afternoon as junior Peter Smock (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) was named the Empire 8 Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.

Smock picked up two wins against Oswego State on Saturday. Smock first teamed with senior Mike Wisniewski (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) at No. 1 doubles. They topped Jon Matros and Tyler Buxbaum, 8-5. Then, Smock defeated Chris Gayvert in two sets, 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 2 singles spot.

Smock and the Saxons will next travel to Houghton College on Wednesday April 4 for a 4PM match start.
