ALFRED, NY -- Sophomore Jessica Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) was named the Empire 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week following a stellar performance in the Saxons' season opener.

Wilcox pitched a complete game against WPI on Sunday afternoon in Alfred University's 2018 season opener and led the Saxons to a 2-1 victory. During the seven-inning performance she threw 11 strikeouts, which is only one strikeout short of matching the AU record for strikeouts in a game (12 - held by multiple players). She also only allowed one earned run during the game. 

AU is currently 4-0 on its Spring Break trip to Osceola, FL. The Saxons will take on Muskingum University at 11:15am on Tuesday morning in Kissimmee, FL.
