ALFRED, NY – Sophomore forward
Samantha Pierre-Louis (Wheatley Heights, NY/Half Hollow Hills West) scored a career-high 15 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds as the Alfred University women's basketball team fell to visiting Nazareth College Tuesday evening, 64-50.

First-year guard
Lyndsey McCoy (Middleburgh, NY/Middleburgh Central) added 11 points off the bench while junior guard
Katlyn Boland (New York, NY/A. Phillip Randolph) chipped 10 points for the Saxons (2-21, 0-14 Empire 8).

Pierre-Louis started off strong from Alfred as she scored their first five points to give them the lead, 5-2. Alfred was able to control the lead before
Haley Schoelerman drove the lane for the layup to give the Golden Flyers a 10-8 lead with 3:15 left in the first quarter. Nazareth was able to maintain the lead to have a 14-10 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Alfred was able to cut the deficit to one early in the second as McCoy converted on her and-one opportunity to make it 14-13 with 9:32 to play before halftime. Nazareth was able to grow its lead to 10 in the quarter before McCoy knocked down a jumper and Boland driving the lean for the layup to make it 31-25 going into halftime.

Pierre-Louis was able to help cut the deficit to four to open up the third before
Rachel Benedict stretched the lead back to six with a pair of free-throws. Pierre-Louis was able to make it a four-point game once again with a layup with 8:52 remaining before Nazareth went on a 5-0 run.

Nazareth was led by Benedict with 22 points while
Samantha Peebles added 14 points, respectively.

Nazareth was able to control the paint as they outscored Alfred (38-24) while Alfred took advantage of their second chanced opportunities (17-7).
