TROY, NY – The Alfred University women's basketball team fell to host The Sage Colleges Saturday afternoon, 77-50 at the Kahl Gym.
The Saxons (2-20, 0-13 Empire 8) were led by sophomore guard
Jamie Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) with 12 points with junior guard
Katlyn Boland (New York, NY/A. Phillip Randolph) and first-year guard
Lyndsey McCoy (Middleburgh, NY/Middleburgh Central) both added nine points. Sophomore forward
Bri Hicks (Burlington, VT/Ithaca) led Alfred in rebounds with eight (Four offense, four defense).
Alfred found themselves down after the first quarter, 19-11, before they found some quick offense in the start of the second frame. Sophomore forward
Sam Pierre-Louis (Wheatley Heights, NY/Half Hollow Hills West) got things going for the Saxons with a layup that helped spurt an 8-2 run in just under two minutes of action to make it 21-19. The Gators were able to extend their lead going into halftime ahead, 40-30.
The Gators were led offensively by
Gessica Patregnani with 20 points with
Emily Parslow adding 15.
Kaitlyn Bowman and
Madasyn Bush led the team in rebounds with eight apiece, respectively.
The Saxons are next at home for their final home game of the season on February 13 as they take on Nazareth College at 8 PM.
