Empire 8 Quick Facts

ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University women's tennis team, qualified for the 2018 Empire 8 Conference tournament behind a 5-3 conference record, nabbing the No. 4 spot in the playoffs to be held at Stevens Institute of Technology on October 13-14 in Hoboken, NJ.

WHO: The seeding for the 2018 Empire 8 Conference Women's Tennis Championships are as follows:
        #1 Nazareth Golden Flyers
        #2 Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks
        #3 St. John Fisher College Cardinals
        #4 Alfred University Saxons

WHAT: The 2018 Empire 8 Conference Women's Tennis Championships is a four-team tournament style format. The tournament is hosted by the #2 seeded Stevens Ducks. The location was predetermined prior to the season to account for multiple playing locations to combat weather conditions. To begin, Stevens will host St. John Fisher College in the first round while Nazareth will host AU. Winners will advance to the Championship match, with the winner continuing to the NCAA Tournament that will take place in May of 2019.

WHEN: The tournament will begin on Friday, October 12 with the #2 Stevens and #3 St. John Fisher match taking place at 12 PM. Following the completion of the first match, #1 Nazareth will host #4 AU. The match will begin at approximately 3 PM. In the event of inclement weather, both matches will be moved to the Washington Township Tennis & Fitness Club (620 Pasack Road, Township of Washington, NJ). In that case, both matches will be played simultaneously, beginning at 12:45 PM. 

The Championship match will take place on Saturday, October 13 at 11 AM (indoor or outdoor).
