ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's basketball team fell to host Nazareth College, 81-65 Friday night at the Kidera Gymnasium.

Alfred scored the games first basketball as Wilcox drove to the basketball for the layup. The Golden Flyers answered as Samantha Peebles made both of her free throw attempts to tie it at two apiece. Alfred led for most the first half until Nazareth was able to gain the lead at the 5:43 mark of the first quarter as Peebles converted her and-one opportunity to make it 9-6.

Both teams battle back and forth for the remainder of the quarter, but Alfred took the lead as the final seconds ran off the clock as first-year guard Chloe Kottwitz (Bolivar, NY/Bolivar-Richburg) nailed her three-point shot to give the Saxons the 21-18 lead after one period.

The Saxons found their offense in the second quarter, going on a 9-4 run that was fueled by a three pointer from first-year guard Lyndsey McCoy (Middleburgh, NY/Middleburgh Central) and a three by Wilcox for the 30-22 lead with 4:39 to go before halftime. Nazareth was able to produce some offense going down the stretch as they closed the gap to 34-32 going into halftime.

Alfred came into the second half aggressive as Boland knocked down her mid-range jumper and Wilcox hit her three-point shot to give the Saxons the 39-32 lead with 7:11 remaining in the third quarter. Nazareth got on the roll as they took control of the lead at the 4:54 mark as Elizabeth White hit her three-point shot to make the score 42-41 in favor of the Golden Flyers for the final lead change of the game.
