ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to visiting Hartwick Saturday afternoon in the Saxons' Empire 8 Conference opener.
AU (0-2, 0-1 Empire 8) got singles wins from junior
Inda Gillett (South Kortright, NY/Delaware Academy), 6-0, 6-3 in fifth singles, and junior
Nurila Kambar (Almaty, Kazakhstan/Republic Physics and Mathematics), 6-0, 6-3 in sixth singles.
The Saxons took one doubles match, with sophomore
Miranda Sakala (Olean, NY/Olean) and senior
Rachel Pera (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) winning third doubles, 8-1.
