ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team fell in its final home appearance of the 2016-17 season 1-7 versus Empire 8 foe, St. John Fisher College on Tuesday evening at the William T. Brown Tennis Courts.

The Saxons (4-8, 2-5 Empire 8) were led by senior Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) who picked up their lone win when he topped Fisher's Jacob Zarzycki at No. 4 singles in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6. The No. 3 singles match between Alfred University's Mike Wisniewski (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) and the Cardinals' John Miller was in its second set before the rain forced the match to go unfinished.

In doubles, the Saxon duo of Kyle Kemper (Oswego, NY/Oswego) and Jacob Nordin (Ann Arbor, MI/Rudolf Steiner School of Ann Arbor) was narrowly edged by Fisher's Adam Moran and Jonathan Harper, 6-8.

Tuesday was Alfred University's Senior Day where Brown and Thomas MacDonald (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs) were honored in pre-match ceremonies.

The Saxons will end their season on the road at Ithaca College on Thursday, April 27 at 4pm in Ithaca, NY.
