ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team lost against visiting Stevens Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon, 21-9 at Yunevich Stadium.
 
The Saxons (4-3,0-1 Empire 8) were paced by sophomore 
Joe Fornataro     (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena)  with four goals and one assist while junior 
Jake Lynch (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) added two goals. Three Saxons had a goal apiece to round out the scoring. Senior 
Matt Zandri (Baldwinsvill, NY/Baldwinsville) led Alfred in assist with two.
 
The Ducks were led by 
John Boutureira with eight goals and one assist.
 
First-year player 
Ben Cafolla (Seneca Falls, NY/Mynderse Academy) led the team in caused turnovers with three while seniors 
Derek Bishopp (Livonia, NY/Livonia) and 
Jimmy Pratti (Slatehill, NY/Minisink Valley) finished with four groundballs apiece.
 
Time in net was divided amongst four players with Junior 
Chris Bucciarelli (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) picked up the loss in the game before having to leave due to injury. Sophomore 
Brandon Smith (Queens, NY/The Governor's Academy) made six saves while Junior 
Drew Gardner (Whitney Point, NY/Whitney Point) made two saves.
 
AU is off until next Saturday, April 1
st, as they travel to Hartwick college to take on the Hawks at 1 p.m.
