ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University men's basketball team fell short to St. John Fisher in a 68-64 thriller Tuesday evening.
 
The Saxons (8-13, 507 Empire 8) were led by senior Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary) with 11 points, four rebounds and three assists. Senior forward Eric Adams (Readington, NJ/Hunterdon Central) had a good all-around game as he finished with nine points, eight boards and one assist. Senior guard Julian Reinhart (Hornell, NY/Hornell) chipped in 10 points and added one rebound. Alfred got help from the bench as they outscored Fisher's, 43-31.
 
The Cardinals were led by Ryan Keegan who finished with a double-double (16 points, 13 rebounds) and Jake Haight with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists. Fisher took advantage of the second chance opportunity as they outscored Alfred, 19-14.
 
Alfred trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half before coming back to trail 37-32 going into halftime. The Saxons came into the second half on fire as they were able to gain the lead with 14:23 left to play on a Seelman jumper. With the game tied at 64, Fisher scored what proved to be the winning points on a Ryan Henderson tip-in off a missed shot by Alex Sausv with five seconds remaining in regulation. Haight sealed the win for the Cardinal's with a pair of free throws with one second remaining.
 
The Saxons are in action next on Friday, Feb. 10, at 8 p.m. at home against Stevens Institute of Technology.
