ALFRED, NY – Hartwick College pulled away in the final seconds to earn a 80-73 victory over the Alfred University men's basketball team Saturday afternoon at the Galanis Family Arena.

The Saxons (8-12, 5-6) tied the game at 39 going into halftime after freshman guard
Sam Dagon (Hornell, NY/Hornell) made two free throw attempts late in the half. The contest remained tight throughout the second half before Hartwick went ahead late and made its free throws down the stretch. The Hawks were 21-for-28 (75%) from the charity stripe for the game.
Sophomore forward
Sage Brown (Cortland, NY/Cortland) was active on both ends of the court as he finished with a double-double (10 points and 12 rebounds). Senior guard
Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary) led the way offensively for the Saxons as he finished with 15 points, going 6-for-10 from the field.

The Hawks were led by
Jake Sinicki who scored a game-high 22 points while grabbing 12 rebounds.
Brandon LaForest chipped in 20 points.

The Saxons are in action next Tuesday, Feb. 7, as the travel to St. John Fisher for a conference match-up at 8 p.m.
