Trevor Monk (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) will represent Alfred University football in the 2017 Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) D3 Senior Classic on December 16
th in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Monk, after being named the Empire 8 Special Teams Player of the Year, has been invited to participate in the CDFL D3 Senior Classic football game as part of the North vs. South All-Star game.

The D3 Senior Classic began in 2009 after owners George and Peter St. Lawrence sought to provide more opportunity for small college players to gain exposure to professional scouts. Over eight years the rosters have been composed of 82% All-Americans and is the third game in a five-game bowl series named the International Scouting Showcase (ISS) which attracts the attention of scouts from the NFL, CFL and AFL among other professional football leagues.

The three-day event touts two games including the America vs. Europe game on Friday evening at 7 PM and the D3 Senior Classic at 12:30 PM on Saturday in Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

During the 2017 season, Monk was 36-of-37 on PAT's and ranked second on the team in scoring with 48 total points. Monk punted 35 times for a total of 1,240 yards (35.43 yards per attempt) and pinned opposing offenses inside their own 20-yard line nine times. He also kicked 52 kickoffs for 2,770 (53.3 yards per attempt), including seven touchbacks. Monk was also recognized as an All-Conference Second Team placekicker after hitting 4-of-6 field goal attempts, including two from over 40 yards.

He also completed his career with 24 field goals over four years, including his longest against Utica College in 2017 from 43 yards out. Monk fell only 18 career PAT's short of tying the school record (169 PAT's). He is currently tied for the most extra points made in a season (56 in 2016) in AU history and tied for the most extra points made in a game (nine) in Empire 8 history. He also holds the most points scored by kicking in a season (89 in 2016).

Monk and the Saxons completed their season with an 8-3 overall record and 5-2 record, tied for second place in the Empire 8. Their season culminated in a 29-16 win over Stevenson in the 2017 ECAC James Lynah Bowl. AU is 10-2 all-time in ECAC bowl games and 14-6 in postseason appearances dating back to 1981.
