Â
"As a whole, I believed that these two games here in Miami were great experience for our players," Head Coach
Monique McLean said. "We saw a lot of positives on both ends of the court and we are really excited to start conference play in 2018."
Â
Alfred University saw light in the first quarter as they exchanged blows with the Bullets of Gettysburg. The Saxons saw their only lead just two minutes into play as Wilcox drained a three-pointer to give them the 5-4 lead before Gettysburg retook the lead just seconds later. Despite Alfred not earning another lead for the remainder of the contest, the Saxons kept battling in the first quarter until the 10 minutes were up and faced a 24-16 deficit going into the second quarter. From that point on, Alfred University did not manage to score in the double-figures for the remaining three quarters.
Â
The Saxons will next open up Empire 8 Conference play as they host the Highlanders of Houghton College on Tuesday, January 2 at the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena to start the 2018 portion of their season. The tipoff is scheduled for 8PM.
