Wilcox’s 32 Points Not Enough as Alfred Falls to Hamilton

BROCKPORT, NY – Sophomore guard Jamie Wilcox (Forestvill, NY/Pine Valley) drops a career-high 32 points as the Alfred University women's basketball team fell to Hamilton College, 69-55 on the second day of the Brockport Tournament.

First-year guard Lyndsey McCoy (Middleburgh, NY/Middleburgh Central) added 11 points while junior guard Katlyn Boland (New York, NT A. Philip Randolph) grabbed nine rebounds to lead Alfred. Wilcox and sophomore forward Samantha Pierre-Louis (Wheatley Heights, NY/Half Hollow Hills West) had eight rebounds apiece.

Wilcox got the Saxons (0-2, 0-0 Empire 8) started early, scoring the team's first five points as she knocked down one of her three three-point makes to give Alfred the 5-2 lead three minutes into the game. Alfred would push the lead to five as Wilcox converted the and-one opportunity after making the layup off the assist from Boland. Hamilton would cut the lead back to three as Marie Steiner convert her own three-point shot. McCoy made it 16-11 as she made her lone three-point attempt with 1:59 remaining in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Hamilton would keep pace with Alfred, trading bucket for bucket before Wilcox converted her two free throw shots to give the Saxons the 20-19 advantage. Wilcox would extend the lead to four as she knocked down another three. Hamilton found some offense, going on a 14-3 run to end the first half of action.

Hamilton were led by Lauren Getman as she got the double-double (16 points, 14 rebounds) to go along with Carly O'Hern's  17 points.

The Saxons held the slight edge in second chance points, 9-8 while Hamilton held the advantage in points in the paint, 28-20.
