ALFRED, NY -- The Empire 8 has named Alfred University's senior A.J. LiCata (Lake View, NY/Frontier) of the football team the Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.

LiCata broke the Alfred University school record for career tackles with his first mark of 382 total tackles, surpassing Nick Clark '11 and his 377 tackles with 18 tackles against RPI on Saturday. He had 11 assisted tackles and seven solo. Three of his tackles were for losses totaling six yards. LiCata tacked on one pass breakup.

LiCata and the Saxons will next host Morrisville State on Saturday, October 28 at 1 pm.
