ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's basketball put on a fantastic display of sound team basketball as they record 27 assists in the 88-69 victory over Nazareth College Friday night in Empire 8 play.

The Saxons (5-6, E8 2-0) were led offensively by senior guard Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary) with 22 points as he continued his hot shooting from beyond the arc, going 4-for-8. Junior forward Dalton Cousin (Sherrill, NY / Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) added 16 points and grabbing seven rebounds. Sophomore forward Sage Brown (Cortland, NY/Cortland) was also active in tonight's game as he hauled in 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists. The Golden Flyers were lead offensively by Tyler Stenglein who had 15 points and by Brendan Wind who had 13 points, respectively.

Seelman picked up where he left of from last game as he hit the game's opening shot with a three off the assist from junior guard Nick Schmidt (Olean, NY/Olean). Alfred open up the game as they went on an 8-0 run that started at the 14:54 mark which was fueled by junior forward Tristin Hook (Red Bank, NJ/Middletown North) as he threw down the emphatic two handed dunk which ignited the crowd.  The Saxons maintain a large lead for most of the first half and led by as many as 22 points as Hook once again threw down the dunk with four seconds remaining and giving the team tremendous momentum going into the break.

The Saxons came out into the second half fired up as they would extend the lead by 27 point after a Cousin's layup attempt at the 17:44 mark. Alfred largest lead of the game came at the 5:12 mark after first-year guard Liam Ebert (Wellsville, NY/ Wellsville) dropped in the three point attempt to give the Saxons the 86-53 advantage. The Golden Flyers ended the game on a 16-2 run but the game was well out of reach.

The Saxons have a quick turnaround as they take on St. John Fisher College tomorrow, January 7th, at 4 p.m.
