UTICA, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team earned two dominant wins against Wells College, 182-31, and host Utica College, 132-95, Friday afternoon.

The Saxons were led by freshman
Andy Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley Central) who brought home two first place finishes in individual events. He won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 22.96 and the 100 freestyle with a 55.70. Fellow freshman
Mike Goodrich (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) won the 100 breaststroke with a 1:04.15

Other Alfred University individuals who claimed top finishes were juniors
Alec Toth (Lockport, NY/Starpoint) in the 500 Free with a 5:05.80 and
Joseph Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) in the 100 fly with a 55.24.

The Saxons also claimed two first place finishes in the relay races. Edmister, sophomore
Richard Berger (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz), Lawrence and senior
Andrew Grant (Akron, NY/Akron) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:42.06. The 200 free relay of senior
Derek Ciraolo (Grand Island, NY/St. Joseph's), senior
Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean), Toth and junior
Michael Guarglia (Hornell, NY/Hornell) claimed the win with a 1:33.89.

Berger (100 Breast – 1:05.19), Toth (200 Free – 1:52.46), Guarglia (1,000 Free – 11:06.20), Ciraolo (100 Free – 52.83) and Brown (50 Free – 23.24) were joined by sophomores
Gabriel Smith (Campbell, NY/Campbell-Savona) and
Ethan Zyglocke (Livonia, NY/Livonia) in those Saxons who finished second in their individual events.

Smith finished the 1-meter diving with a personal best score of 157.05. Zyglocke earned his second place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.24.

The Saxons are back in action on Saturday, January 14 when they host the Hawks of Hartwick College at 1:00 pm in Lebohner Pool.
