ONEONTA, NY -- The Alfred University women's tennis team lost its 2016-17 season opener, falling 8-1 at Hartwick College in an Empire 8 Conference match Saturday.

First-year player Tori Pellegrino (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) earne the lone point for  AU (0-1, 0-1 E8) , taking first singles, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

AU is in action next on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 3:30 p.m. against visiting Oneonta State.
