OSWEGO, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team opened its 2016-17 season at Oswego State Wednesaday afternoon and fell to the host Lakers, 7-2.
 
Sophomore Peter Smock (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) earned Alfred's lone singles win, taking a 6-4, 6-3 victory in second singles.
 
The Saxons' other point came in second doubles, where junior Mike Wisniewski (Buffalo, NY/Williamsville East) and senior Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) teamed for an 8-4 win.
 
AU is in action next on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 4 p.m. at home against SUNY Oneonta.
