ALFRED,  NY -- Visiting SUNY Cortland defeated the Alfred University women's tennis team, 8-1, Friday afternoon in a non-conference matchup.

AU earned its lone point in first doubles, with first-year player Tori Pellegrino (Whitesboro, nY/Whitesboro) and sophomore Emma Siemer (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) claimed an 8-2 victory.

The Saxons (1-5) are in action next on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 11 a.m. at Empire 8 Conference foe Ithaca College.
