ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's lacrosse team fell 1-23 in Empire 8 action against Ithaca College on Saturday at Yunevich Stadium.

Sophomore attack
Miranda Gilbert (Watertown, NY/Watertown) was the lone scorer for the Saxons (4-12, 0-7 Empire 8).

Ithaca College scored the first 18 goals of the game, spanning the entire first half and the first nine minutes of the second half until Gilbert netted an unassisted goal at 20:27.

The Bombers led AU in shots (35-3), shots on goal (30-2), turnovers (12-22), caused turnovers (17-4), clear attempt success rate (5-of-6 to 6-of-10), ground balls (18-12), draw controls (18-8) and free-position shots (11-0).

Shannon Gray (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) led both teams with seven saves during her 60 minutes of play.

Kerry Mack (Weedsport, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) led the Saxons in ground balls with three and was one of four players to create a turnover while also pulling in a draw control. Senior
Aubrey Fry (Jasper, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg), Gilbert and freshman
Olivia Cronmiller (Livonia, NY/Livonia) all had two draw controls on the day.

The Saxons will close out their 2016 season by hosting the Golden Eagles of Elmira College tomorrow (Sunday, April 24) at 1:00 pm. The game is designated as the Saxon for Saxon Game as well as the final appearances for seniors Mack,
Rachel Ball (Corfu, NY/Pembroke) and
Brianna Dudick (Somers, NY/Somers) as well as graduate student-athlete, Fry.
