ALMOND, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory against visiting Lycoming College Tuesday afternoon at the Alfred-Almond Central School courts.
AU won five of six singles matches and took two of three doubles contests to improve to 5-16 on the season.
Winning singles matches for the Saxons were: senior
Rachel Cook (Youngstown, OH/Laurel Springs), 6-3, 6-1 in first singles; senior
Kallie Clapper (Conklin, NY/Susquehanna Valley), 6-1, 6-4 in third singles; freshman
Emma Siemer (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy), 6-0, 6-2 in fourth singles; freshman
Abby Williams (Alfred, NY/Alfred-Almond), 6-1, 6-1 in fifth singles; and freshman
Inda Gillett (South Kortright, NY/Delaware Academy), 6-1, 6-2 in sixth singles.
Cook and
Emma Jackson (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) won first doubles, 8-5, while Clapper and Siemer took third doubles, 8-2.
AU is in action next on Sunday, April 3, at 12 p.m. at SUNY Oneonta.
