Women's Lacrosse Downed on the Road, 12-6

UTICA, NY—Freshman Morgan Timmerman (Cortland, NY/Cortland) surpassed her career-high in goals (3) for the third consecutive game in a 12-6 loss to SUNY IT on the road Saturday afternoon.
 
With Timmerman providing half the offensive production for the Saxons (2-3, E8 0-0), sophomore Miranda Gilbert (Watertown, NY/Watertown) and junior Megan Wendt (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) scored two goals and one goal, respectively, to round out the scoring. Junior Rachel Ball (Corfu, NY/Pembroke) provided the lone assist in the game for the Saxons on a goal to Timmerman in the first half.
 
During the opening 20 minutes of the game the Saxons kept pace with the Wildcats, earning a 4-3 lead with 15:21 to go in the half. However, SUNY IT put together a string of seven unanswered goals over 20 minutes, spanning from the first to second half. Finally, Timmerman broke the run with a goal with 16:40 to go in the game.
 
The Wildcats scored two more times down the stretch to earn a 12-5 lead with 8:32 to go. Timmerman completed the hat trick, scoring with 8:06 left on the clock, rounding out the scoring summary.
 
Senior Kerry Mack (Weedsport, NY/Jordan-Elbridge) paced AU with three ground balls and five caused turnovers. Junior Dana Ganley (Syracuse, NY/Westhill) added five more caused turnovers to the Saxon cause.
 
Sophomore Shannon Gray (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) played 60 minutes in net for the Saxons, earning 12 saves on the day.
 
AU returns to the first tomorrow (Sunday) to take on Wells College on the road at 3PM.
