Saxons complete season sweep of Ducks

Reinhart and Stopera set career-highs

ALFRED, NY—Junior Julian Reinhart (Hornell, NY/Hornell) surpasses his career scoring mark Saturday afternoon to aid the Saxons in the completion of their season sweep of the Stevens Ducks, 84-71, at home.

20 of Reinhart's 27 points came in the second half following a moment where Reinhart was on the ground due to an elbow to the nose. Immediately following the injury, the junior guard rattled off his 20 points and four steals, running rampant on the Stevens defense.

Sophomore Dalton Cousin (Sherrill, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) scored 17 points for AU, with 11 points coming the in the second half. Junior Eric Adams (Lebanon, NJ/Hunterdon Central) led the Saxons on the boards with 13 rebounds to accompany his 11 points.

Heading into the second half the Saxons trailed the Ducks 42-33 after a half where AU created chances but was unable to capitalize, shooting 15-of-42 (35.7%) from the field. However, in the second half, the team caught fire and eliminated the nine-point deficit by the 11:42 mark when Reinhart drained a shot from behind the arc, starting a 10-0 run for the Saxons. After the run, AU maintained their lead behind 18-of-30 (60.0%) shooting.

Freshman Scotty Stopera (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) led the Saxons with four assists in the game; a career-high. Junior Nigel Herbert (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) had three assists.

With the win, the Saxons (9-12, E8 5-7) have topped the Stevens Ducks in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

AU had Nazareth College next on their schedule, taking the Golden Flyers on in Rochester, NY next Friday at
6PM.
