Play of the WeekALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University men's basketball team dropped an 89-81 decision to visiting Hartwick College in an Empire 8 Conference matchup Friday evening in the Galanis Family Arena.
AU (8-12, 4-7 Empire 8) led at the half, 36-32, after outrebounding the visitors, 22-16. Hartwick kept it close by shooting 44 percent (4-for-9) in the first 20 minutes. The visitors continued their hot shooting from the outside in the second half, making eight of 13 from behind the arc as they outscored AU, 57-45, after intermission.

Julian Reinhart (Hornell, NY/Hornell) had a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 14 rebounds to pace the Saxons, who outrebounded the Hawks, 46-40.

Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Academy) scored 18 points and handed out a game-high six assists, while sophomore forward
Dalton Cousin (Sherrill, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) had 11 points and six rebounds. Sophomore guard
Nick Schmidt (Olean, NY/Olean) added 10 points.
Justin Pratt led five players in double figures for Hartwick (14-6, 9-2 E8) with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Trevor Norton had 16 points and
Matt Wilson had nine points, 13 rebounds and five blocks.
Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. at home against Stevens.
