OLEAN, NY – The Alfred University women's tennis team wrapped up its fall season with an 8-1 Empire 8 Conference victory over visiting Utica College Saturday afternoon.
AU swept three doubles matches and took five of six singles matches, which due to inclement weather were played on indoor courts in Olean. With the win, Alfred improved to 5-10 overall, and ended E8 play with a 3-5 league mark.

Emma Siemer (Owego, NY/Owego Free Academy) won first doubles, 8-1; junior
Sarah Grace (Rochester, NY/Penfield) and sophomore
Inda Gillett (South Kortright, NY/Delaware Academy) took second doubles, 8-3; and
Rachel Pera (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) and freshman
Miranda Sakala (Olean, NY/Olean) claimed third doubles, 8-1.
AU got singles wins from Pellegrino, 6-0, 6-0 in first singles; Siemer, 6-0, 6-1 in second singles; Grace, 6-0, 6-1 in third singles; sophomore
Nurila Kambar (Almaty, Kazakhstan/ Republic Physics and Mathematics School), 6-0, 6-1 in fifth singles; and senior
Courtney Ferrara (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon), 6-0, 6-7, 10-5 in sixth singles.
