MONTCLAIR, NJ – The Alfred University men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision at Montclair (NJ) State in a non-conference match Tuesday evening.
AU (7-6-2) got the took an early lead when junior defender
Kade McGarrity (Angola, NY/Lake Shore) netted an unassisted goal just 1:43 into the game.
Montclair (12-4-1) responded by scoring three straight to take a 3-1 halftime lead.
Mike Olla tied the game 2:48 after McGarrity's goal, and put his team ahead for good at the 9:17 mark.
Lucas Terci, assisted by Olla, scored with 22 minutes remaining in the half to put the Red Hawks up 3-1.
Aaron Rose, with an assist from Olla, gave Montclair a 4-1 lead 7:30 into the second half. Terci's second goal of the game, with 13:55 remaining in regulation, closed out the scoring.
Junior goalkeeper
Chris Gutierrez (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) made five saves in net for AU.
Taylor Culp started in net for Montclair and had no saves in 27 minutes.
Mike Saalfrank played the final 63 minutes and made one save.
AU is in action next on Saturday, Oct. 22, at noon at Stevens.
