HOUGHTON,NY – The Alfred University men's soccer teams lost 1-0 in overtime to host Houghton College Saturday afternoon in Empire 8 Conference play.
 
The game-winning goal was scored in the 93^rd minute by forward Landon Sheaffer, off the assist from midfielder Andrew Bussey.
 
Junior goalie Chris Gutierrez (Holbrook, NY / Sachem East) took the loss for the Saxons, making six saves. Jacob Dunnett earned the win for Houghton as he made three saves. The Highlanders had the advantage in shots, 11-6, while the Saxons had the slight edge in corner kicks, 5-4.
 
Alfred (6-3-1, 1-1-1 Empire 8) is in action next on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. at home against SUNY Fredonia.
