PITTSBURGH, PA – The Alfred University volleyball team fell twice at La Roche College against Oberlin College and the hosts in four sets on Friday evening to open the 2015 season.
In their opening match, the Saxons fell to Oberlin College 1-3 (19-25, 14-25, 25-18, 23-25). Freshman
Elisabeth Estep led Alfred University with nine kills on 32 attempts (2.25 kills per set) and added four service aces.
Senior
Brianna Dudick followed with eight kills of her own while junior
Mary Lou Patnaude posted three kills and one ace.
Diana Lang had 20 assists and an ace while Estep topped the Saxon charts in the first match of the season with 17 digs.
Estep would once again be atop the Saxons' points leader board with eight in the nightcap match but was also joined by Patnaude who both had eight points. Estep tallied her eight points off of eight kills and added eight digs while Patnaude posted eight kills as her solo standout statistic for the match.

Chelsea Pietrzykowski got low to lead the team with 10 digs.
Aubrey Totsline had 21 assists against La Roche while both D'Andrea and
Valerie Cardillo marked two service aces each.
The Saxons end their trip to Pittsburgh with matches against Chatham University at 10:00 am and Baldwin Wallace University at 11:30 am on Saturday.
