ITHACA, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team dropped its final two matches at Ithaca College to Widener University and Wells College in three sets apiece on Saturday afternoon.
The Saxons fell to Widener with scores of 15-25, 12-25 and 15-25 and then to Wells with scores of 19-25 in all three sets.
Chelsea Pietrzykowski (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) led the Saxons with 10 points on the day with eight kills, an ace and two assisted blocks.
In the early match against Widener,
Heather D'Andrea (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) posted six points from five kills and one service ace and added four digs. Pietrzykowski had five of her eight kills in the match and added two digs.
Aubrey Totsline (Fairport, NY/Fairport)led the Saxons with 18 set assists and with nine digs against Widener. She also had one ace.
Elisabeth Estep (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) and
Kristen Julian (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) both had eight kills and one ace each.
Estep, D'Andrea and Totsline all had double-digits in digs in the later match against Wells with Estep leading the three with 15 kills while D'Andrea and Totsline had 13 and 11, respectively. All three also had aces and Totsline tied Pietrzykowski with two block assists.
The Saxons will next travel to Bradford, PA to face off in a solo match against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00 pm.
