Box Score OLEAN, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team opened its 2015 spring season Sunday with an 8-1 victory over Pitt-Bradford, in matches played at the indoor courts in Olean.
AU won all six singles matches. Junior
Connor Doud (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) won first singles, 6-0, 6-0; sophomore
Evan Haskins (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville South) won second singles, 6-1, 6-1; senior
Michael Graham (Elmira, NY/Southside) took third singles, 6-0, 6-0; junior
Kevin Volz Olean, NY/Olean) took fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0; junior
Matt Baloga (Goshen, NY/Goshen) claimed fifth singles, 6-0, 6-0; and sophomore
Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) won six singles by forfeit.
Brown and Volz won second doubles, 8-0, and AU took third doubles by forfeit.
AU, which split two fall matches, improved to 2-1 overall with Sunday's win. The Saxons are in action on Sunday, March 22, at 1 p.m., when they open their Empire 8 Conference slate at Ithaca.
