Play of the WeekALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team snapped a 15-match losing streak with a 3-0 win over visiting Keuka College in non-conference action on Friday evening in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.

The
Saxons (2-17, 0-4 Empire 8) defeated the Wolfpack (4-13, 2-4 NEAC) with set scores of 25-20, 25-17 and 25-21. Alfred led Keuka in points (42.0-40.0), aces (9-4) and blocks (2-1) on the evening. Both teams managed double-digit kills in two of their three sets. The Saxons had 9, 11 and 11 in sets one through three, respectively while Keuka posted marks of 12, 8 and 15 in order.

The series that led to the home win for Alfred University was a 7-2 run that began with a Keuka 19-18 lead in the third set. Senior
Brianna Dudick (Somers, NY/Somers) recorded back-to-back kills from sophomore
Aubrey Totsline (Fairport, NY/Fairport) assists to tie and take a 20-19 Saxon lead.

Junior
Valerie Cardillo (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) added two points of her own off of a kill from a Totsline set and off of a pin-point service ace. Sophomore
Jacquelynn Hicks (Greenville, NY/Greenville) had an unassisted kill in between the Cardillo scores. She also scored the match-winning point with a Saxon 24-21 lead off a kill. Totsline assisted on the match-winning kill.

Hicks set a new season-high and also broke her collegiate career-high in points on Friday, scoring 13.5 to beat out last year's mark of 13.0 against Hilbert College (10.28.14) and Penn State Harrisburg (08.30.14). She totaled a match-high 11 kills, added two aces and recorded one block assist against Keuka.

Dudick also broke double-figures in points with 10.0 which was one point away from tying her season-best that was set against Chatham University (09.05.15). She had eight kills, one service ace and two block assists while also garnering eight digs and one set assist. Her block assists were a match-leading number. She was followed by Hicks and senior
Chelsea Pietrzykowski (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) who both had one.

Sophomore
Heather D'Andrea (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) was the match leader in aces with three on her way to an eight-point outing. She added five kills to her performance and also had the team's second highest number in digs with 13.

Freshman
Elisabeth Estep (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) led the Saxons and the Wolfpack in digs with 22, just three off of tying her collegiate career-best of 25 against Pitt-Bradford (10.03.15). Totsline followed suit in leading the match with 22 set assists and also added an ace and five digs.

The Saxons will next take on Houghton College and Hartwick College on Saturday, October 10 at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm, respectively in the Houghton College Empire 8 Crossover.
