HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team fell in back-to-back Empire 8 matches to Houghton College and Hartwick College on Saturday afternoon during the Houghton E8 Crossover.

In both matches, the
Saxons (2-19, 0-6 Empire 8) fell in three sets. First, Houghton topped them 25-18, 25-13 and 25-15 and then Hartwick posted set scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-13 in the later match.

Senior
Chelsea Pietrzykowski (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) led the Saxons with 13 points on the day. Nine of those came in the first match against the Highlanders when she totaled eight kills and one solo block.

Sophomore
Jacquelynn Hicks (Greenville, NY/Greenville) followed with 12 points combined between the two matches. Her best showing was also against the host team with six kills, one ace and one solo block.

Freshman
Elisabeth Estep (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) led Alfred University with a total of 26 digs on Saturday. Sophomore
Aubrey Totsline (Fairport, NY/Fairport) had 33 set assists to lead the Saxons.

The Saxons will next travel to Brockport, NY to compete in the College at Brockport Tournament. Their first match is against Hilbert College on Friday, October 16 at 6:00 pm.
