Volleyball Loses Grasp Of Revenge Against Pitt-Bradford, 1-3

YouTube Recap | Play of the Week

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball was close in seeking revenge on the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Saturday morning but fell in four sets, 19-25, 20-25, 25-20 and 25-10 in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.

The Panthers of Pitt-Bradford earlier topped the Saxons in four sets, with the Saxons (1-16, 0-4 Empire 8) winning the third set as well, in just the eighth match of the season. Alfred looked for redemption on Saturday and nearly had it after having notable leads in the second and third sets.

The Panthers averaged over 10 kills a set with the first and second set with 16 kills from the team. Alfred's high on kills was in the third set with 12.

Senior Chelsea Pietrzykowski (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) led the Saxons in points with 10.5 off of eight kills, a match-high two solo blocks and an assisted block. Sophomore Jacquelynn Hicks (Greenville, NY/Greenville) also had eight kills on her way to 10 points by adding two assisted blocks and one solo.

Sophomore Heather D'Andrea (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) tallied the most kills for the Saxons with nine. She also added 17 digs and one set assist. Sophomore Aubrey Totsline (Fairport, NY/Fairport) recorded 29 set assists and added a match-high three service aces. She also had eight digs, one kills and one assisted block.

Junior Valerie Cardillo (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) had the match-second in aces with two on her way to an eight-point outing, which is a season-best. She totaled five kills and two block assists while recording six digs. Senior Brianna Dudick (Somers, NY/Somers) also had five kills on the day while adding 16 digs and one assist.

Freshman Elisabeth Estep (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) led both teams in digs with 25. She also had one kill and three assists. Everyone on the Saxon team had at least one kill on the morning.

The Saxons will next continue their home stand with a Sunday afternoon match against the Mavericks of Medaille College on Sunday, October 4 at 12:00 pm at the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.
