Play of the WeekALFRED, NY—The Alfred University men's soccer team (10-2-2, E8 3-1-1) handed the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford its twelfth loss of the season, 5-0, on Monday afternoon at Yunevich Stadium.

Junior
Richard Lander (Narrowsburg, NY/Sullivan West) headlined the Saxons offense, scoring two goals for his ninth and tenth goals of the season, respectively. Lander moved up to third in the Empire 8 in goals with the two-score performance.

In the opening minutes of the game AU maintained nearly complete possession of the ball, building momentum until their first score in the 20
th minute. Junior
Aidan Calkins (Oakland, ME/Messalonskee) received a pass from junior
James Piombino (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) from the right flank and corralled the ball, turned and buried the shot left footed past the diving keeper to grab the early lead. Only two minutes later, Lander chimed in with his first goal of the afternoon on a long through-ball from junior
Graeme Corrigan (Troy, NY/Troy).

It was Lander again before half time to put the Saxons up 3-0 when he buried a penalty kick inside the left post. AU carried the 3-0 lead into the intermission.

Once again to start the half, the Saxons maintained possession, skillfully moving the ball around the pitch until finally scoring in the 75
th minute. Freshman
Alexander Tostanoski (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post) notched his second goal of the year sliding in on a cross from sophomore
Jesse Lichtman (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) and tipping the ball by the diving goalie.Â

The Saxons' last goal came in the 86
th minute when senior
Phil Facquet (Farmingville, NY/Sachem East) headed a corner to the back post over the keeper and into the net for his first career goal.Â

Sophomore
Chris Gutierrez (Holbrook, NY/Sachem East) started in goal for AU making two stops over 45 minutes. Senior
Matthew Unick (Warwick, NY/Warwick) supplemented his time in goal and faced no shots on goal. The Saxons dominated the Panthers in shots (33-4), shots on goal (17-2) and corner kicks (12-3).

AU looks to make it three wins in a row on Wednesday when they travel to take on Union College at 7PM in Schenectady, NY.
