ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team shut out visiting Utica College Saturday afternoon to improve to 10-6 overall and 2-1 in Empire 8 play.
In singles play, AU got wins from sophomore
Connor Doud (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa), 6-0, 6-0 in first singles; senior
Peter Benoit (Gasport, NY/Barker), 6-2, 6-0 in second singles; senior
Stefan Nonnenmann (New Providence, NJ/New Providence), 6-2, 6-3 in third singles; senior
Eric Teller (Granville, NY/Granville), 6-0, 6-1 in fourth singles; senior
Dalton Divine (Holland Patent, NY/Holland Patent), 6-0, 6-0 in fifth singles; and sophomore
Matt Baloga (Goshen, NY/Goshen), a winner in sixth singles by forfeit.
Doud and Nonnenmann won first doubles, 8-3; Benoit and freshman
Pat Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) won second doubles, 8-2); and Teller and freshman
Evan Haskins (East Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) claimed third doubles by forfeit.
The Saxons are in action next on Wednesday, April 16, at 3:30 p.m. at home against Empire 8 foe Nazareth.
