HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team dropped its first match out of a three-match, two day weekend at Houghton College against Buffalo State, 3-0 Friday evening.
Freshman
Jacquelynn Hicks (Greenville, NY/Greenville) led the Saxons (5-24, 1-7 Empire 8) with eight kills off of 19 attempts and added a block solo and block assist. Jessica Crooks led the Bengals (22-10, 4-5 SUNYAC) with six kills from 9 attempts, a game-high seven block assists and one block assist.
The second set was the top performance for Alfred on the evening, falling by two, 23-25. The Saxons loss the first set 7-25 and the third with a 13-25 outing. Other top performers for the night were freshman
Aubrey Totsline (Rochester, NY/Fairport) with 17 assists, one ace and one dig while junior
Brianna Dudick (Somers, NY/Somers) added three kills from eight attempts, one ace and one assisted block.
The Saxons take on SUNY Cortland at 1:00 pm Saturday and then the host Highlanders at 3:00 pm.
