HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team ended their season with a pair of losses to SUNY Cortland and Houghton College during the final day of the Highlanders' two-day tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Saxons dropped the early match to the Red Dragons of Cortland 3-1 with set scores of 25-23, 21-25, 10-25, 18-25 and then fell to the host Highlanders 3-1 with scores of 7-25, 28-26, 8-25, 10-25. The two losses give the Saxons an overall 2014 season record of 5-26 and they finish 1-7 in the Empire 8.
Mary Lou Patnaude finished the day with 18 kills as she led the Saxons. She also tacked on 18 digs and four block assists.
Heather D'Andrea also had double digit kills for the day, compiling 11 against the Red Dragons and adding five on the day's finale. She also had five aces and 26 digs between the two matches.
Aubrey Totsline recorded 57 assists, 14 digs and four aces.
Chelsea Pietrzykowski went up for seven dig assists against Houghton after recording two in the early match.
